Animal Shelters That Have Suffered A Fire Recently & Need Help

Southern Pines Animal Shelter- On Sunday, December 20, Southern Pines Animal Shelter was robbed and the office building burned. In the building four disabled cats resided and were cared for as treasured pets by the staff, and all were lost in the fire. Beyond the shock, the anger, and the tears, our resolve to rebuild is strong. Their website is: http://www.southernpinesanimalshelter.org/

Ritchie County Animal Shelter - http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/WV22.html January 13, 2010: FIRE STRIKES SHELTER! The red building that housed all of the cats and kittens burned in a fire in the pre-dawn hours. We lost all of the animals in that building (a total of 70 cats and dogs). We had several cats in foster care and had moved dogs & puppies from that building out to rescues the weekend before the fire. If not for that, more lives would have been lost. There are still many other dogs needing homes that were in the new kennel building or outside kennels. The supply rooms were in the building that burned down. Everything is gone: food, medicines, vaccines, transport crates, refrigerators to store medicines, cat kennel cages, ex-pens for puppies, cleaning supplies, trash bags, litter pans, litter, cat food, bowls, newspapers, bedding, slip leads, leashes, collars, humane traps, etc. The most urgent needs right now are to replace the destroyed food and raising money for rebuilding. We are starting to plan the rebuilding process and need funding. We can also use gift cards for: WalMart, Sams, Tractor Supply, Pet Supplies Plus, We Luv Pets, Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware
